Tara Planeta ~ Founder,Violin
Tara Planeta earned her Master's Degree in Violin Performance in 2003, and has performed with numerous ensembles across the nation including the National Philharmonic, Maryland Symphony, Roanoke Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Arizona Opera, Phoenix Symphony, and many more. She has shared the stage with Liza Minelli, Wynnona Judd, Natalie Cole, Art Garfunkle, Aaron Neville, The Pointer Sisters, Billy Ocean, Styx, and other renowned artists. Ms.Planeta is the Executive Director of the Fauquier Youth Orchestra in Warrenton, and also maintains a busy teaching schedule with The Catoctin School of Music in Leesburg. In her spare time, enjoys spending time with her many animals, and volunteering in animal welfare.
Carol Brobst ~ Violin,Viola,Harp
Carol Brobst of Brobst Violin Shop, is an alumni of George Mason University, and has enjoyed a long career as a modern and baroque violinist/violist. She has performed with many East Coast ensembles, including Opera Lafayette, Washington Bach Consort, Richmond Symphony, Bach Sinfonia, Modern Musick, ArcoVoce, National Gallery Orchestra, and the Manassas Ballet. Ms.Brobst has participated in several early music ensemble recordings and baroque performance practice masterclasses, and assists ASQ with arranging music for client requests. She manages a private teaching studio in her home, and also enjoys a prolific involvement at The Torpedo Factory making and selling fiber art and jewelry.
Andrew Nixon~ Viola,Violin,Cello,Flute
Andrew Nixon is a graduate of Brown University where he earned a Ph.D. in applied mathematics only to discover that music was his true calling. An avid multi-instrumentalist, he currently serves as concertmaster with the Washington Metropolitan Gamer Symphony Orchestra, principal viola with the Frederick Symphony Orchestra, and principal cello with the NIH Philharmonia, as well as working regularly with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra. Dr.Nixon also actively works in musical theater/opera, where he specializes in string and woodwind doubling. In addition to orchestral strings, he can be found performing on guitar, mandolin, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, and alto saxophone. Dr.Nixon also enjoys reading, video games, puzzles, and snuggling his two cats.
James Forry ~ Cello
James Forry graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University with a degree in Music Education, and has been teaching for over a decade. He currently teaches music for the Spotsylvania County Public Schools, and is very active with the extracurricular music programming. He has held adjunct faculty positions at the University of Mary Washington and Randolph-Macon College. Mr.Forry also teaches privately at the WM Mason II Violin Shop in Fredericksburg, and is the principal cellist of the Piedmont Symphony. He is an avid mountain biker, has a wealth of knowledge of farm tractors, and is married to his college sweetheart with three beautiful children.
